Cannabinoid Analysis

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that occur naturally in cannabis plants. When cannabinoids come into contact with human systems and chemicals it triggers physiological actions. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the best-known compound due to its psychoactive qualities, while cannabidiol (CBD) appears to play the most significant role in the plant’s medicinal benefits.

JHG Analytical Services Ltd perform laboratory testing for manufacturers of hemp and cannabis products. Using modern analytical methods, we quantitatively determine the presence and content of these cannabinoids.

We analyse the following cannabinoids:

  • CBD – Cannabidiol

  • CBDA – Cannabidiolic Acid

  • CBDV – Cannabidivarin

  • CBG – Cannabigerol

  • CBN – Cannabinol

  • CBC – Cannabichromene

  • THC – Tetrahydrocannabinol

  • THCA – Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid

  • THCV – Tetrahydrocannabivarin

Terpene Analysis

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that gives cannabis plants, hemp products and CBD oil their unique scent. Terpene analysis is crucial for differentiating between strains of cannabis, as terpenes have a major influence on the medical and psychological effects of a plant.

Understanding terpenes is essential for manufacturers to selectively modulate the terpene ratios of their strains in order to maximize desired benefits and to helping product users identify the right product for them.

Flavonoid Analysis

Flavonoids are compounds in plants that give them their pigmentation, attract pollinators and prevent plant diseases. Flavonoids have been shown to have beneficial effects, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial activity.

There ae about 20 flavonoids in cannabis. Our analysis will detect what flavonoids are present and determine the concertation of flavonoid within the oil product.
